Essential Oil Diffuser Recipes to Make Your House Smell Amazing

A couple of years ago I stopped using scented candles in our home and switched to using essential oils to scent our home.

I love a great-smelling house, but when I first started experimenting with essential oils to recreate the scents I love, I was nervous about blending different oils to create my own essential oil diffuser recipes.

Initially, I only added one oil at a time to my diffuser (typically lavender, peppermint, orange, or lemon).  And while that was nice, after a while it got a little boring!

So I became more adventurous, experimenting with some of the best smelling essential oils to create entirely new home fragrances. Every now and then, my essential oil recipes didn’t turn out as planned and I ended up with something less than wonderful.

But when that happened, I simply dumped out the water, rinsed the diffuser, and started over. Thankfully, the flops were few and far between, and my experimentation has resulted in some beautiful essential oil diffuser recipes that make our house smell amazing!

My choice of diffuser blend might be based on the time of year, whether anyone in the house is under the weather, whether we need to focus/perk up or relax/slow down, what I’m cooking, the weather, the time of day, or what our dog Baxter has been up to (see #14).

To save you the time and trouble of experimenting, following are 13 of my favorite DIY essential oil recipes, using the best smelling essential oils and blended specifically for making your house smell good–even with pets!
