As you may know, especially if you follow along on Instagram, I’ve been doing a bit of updating in our master bedroom over the past few months. Right now, I’d say the room is just about halfway done. We started by painting the walls and ceilings in White Dove by Benjamin Moore. Then we added the panel moulding. Just recently, we added new bedding from Boll and Branch. And most recently, we updated our mattress with a new one from Agility Bed.
Actually, a new mattress should have been the first item on our update list, because we had our previous mattress for about 14 years–which is crazy when you think about it, because getting a good night’s sleep is so important.
You know that feeling when you try out a bed for the first time and it feels so perfect you just know you’re going to get an amazing night’s sleep? That’s exactly how I felt the first night I climbed into our new Agility bed! The first thing I noticed is that it supports you where you need it but “gives” where you need it as well. And whether you’re sleeping on your back or side, it feels like your body settles into the perfect spot immediately.
Also, even though my husband likes a soft mattress, while I prefer it a firmer one, we both feel like the Agility mattress gives us the exact sleeping experience we love. The other thing we both commented on after our first night’s sleep is that we didn’t notice each other roll over during the night, whereas with our other mattress we could always tell when the other person moved in the slightest!
This probably has something to do with the way these mattresses are made. According to their website, Agility’s mattresses have unique layers, including:
• five-zoned breathable latex foam for comfort and support,
• mini micro-coils that respond quickly to movement and minimize motion disturbance,
• bio-based gel memory foam for energy absorption, and
• high-quality base foam for added support and durability
What it all comes down to is that since we updated our mattress, both my husband and I are sleeping deeply and waking up feeling refreshed. To be honest, we didn’t expect this mattress to be a game changer, but that’s exactly what it turned out to be.
In fact, when I ordered our Agility mattress, I thought we’d use it in our guest bedroom, so I ordered a queen size. When we received the mattress we set it up in our master bedroom because I wanted to sleep on it a few nights so I could provide an honest review (and because that room has better lighting for photos).
But after that first night, we were hooked–we loved the Agility mattress so much we couldn’t bear going back to our old mattress! However, since my husband is 6’3″ and we’re used to a bigger bed, we decided to replace the bed in our master with a king-size Agility mattress. I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually upgrade every bed in our home with an Agility mattress!
Up until now, I’ve never enjoyed the whole process of choosing a mattress, but this entire experience was so easy! First of all, Agility’s website is just the best. It’s simple to navigate and find all the information you need to choose and order the right bed for you.
And receiving and setting up your Agility mattress is even easier. In fact, I thought I’d give you a quick rundown, mostly through photos, to show you how quick and simple it is:
First of all, our mattress was shipped for free and delivered right to our front door within just a few days of placing the order. We also ordered a foundation, so we actually received two boxes that looked like this:
Dave was thrilled with how easy the foundation was to put together. It took him all of five minutes! It basically involved slipping a pin in each corner and unrolling two slats on top. We did need to purchase a new bed frame to go underneath. We found one at Sam’s Club for less than $40.
The mattress is rolled very tightly and wrapped in heavy plastic. A cutting tool that looks like an envelope slicer is included to help you remove the plastic without cutting the mattress itself.
First, we removed the mattress from the box and laid it at the foot of the bed. Even though it looks like I just plopped it into place by myself, the mattress is actually very heavy, so you do need someone to help you move it.
Here’s a little video showing how easy it was to set up our Agility mattress!
Here’s another view of what the mattress looked like unrolled, before we took off the plastic. I couldn’t believe how thin it was!
And how quickly it expanded to its full size once I started cutting off the plastic!
As I mentioned above, from the very first night we slept on our Agility mattress, I knew we’d made the right choice. And I feel good about recommending this mattress to others. It’s also reassuring to know that Agility mattresses have environmental certifications ensuring that they’re safe and non-toxic for families and children.
If you decide that an Agility mattress is right for you, too, make sure to use Promo Code “jane100” to receive $100 off your purchase price!
By the way, Agility offers a 100-night in-home risk-free trial to test out your new mattress–and they have a full refund policy and product warranty.
Creating a bedroom that feels like sanctuary is all about designing a space that feels true to you, evokes a feeling of peace and calm, and is functional and comfortable. No matter how beautiful a bedroom is, if the mattress is uncomfortable, it defeats the entire purpose of the space. Our Agility mattress is the foundation of this room, in that it provides us with the best possible sleeping experience–and there’s nothing more beautiful than that!

As far as our bedroom updates go, next up is new wood flooring! After that, I think I might paint the nightstands. And, of course, I still haven’t finished “zhushing” this space up. My home is a work in progress, so be prepared to see this space all over again in the future!
