Update your décor with a stylish wood bead strand — an easy DIY

One of my favorite recent projects was making this wood bead strand, which I’ve had fun  draping all over the place.  So far, it’s been part of our dining room centerpiece, added to a tray on our coffee table, and draped over my wood tray.  I just love how it instantly adds an interesting natural element to an otherwise boring spot.

Update your décor with a stylish wood bead strand - easy instructionsAfter seeing a strand of wood beads draped elegantly over a stack of books in a magazine, I started looking for them online, planning to buy one, but they were surprisingly hard to find.  And the few I did find were pretty pricey–especially when you consider that it’s just a bunch of beads on a string!

So it was DIY time.  And since I didn’t have instructions, I had to wing it.  Thankfully, there wasn’t much I could do to mess it up, and my bead strand turned out even better than I’d hoped!

I think the entire process took me less than ten minutes–my kind of project!  In fact, it was so easy, I feel kind of silly writing out the instructions, but I’m sharing them in the hope you’ll try making a bead strand, too!

This is such a great project because a bead strand works with any kind of décor.  Whether you’re into farmhouse, rustic, cottage, coastal, modern, or glam–a wood bead strand will add a touch of style to every spot it graces!

What you’ll need:

4 packages of 25mm round wood beads (about 1-inch diameter) with pre-drilled holes. Note: Four packages (18 beads per package) makes a 72-inch long strand.  If you want a shorter bead strand, three packages would make a 54-inch long strand

Twine or Leather Cord

Directions:

1  Measure out and cut your twine or leather.  If you’re using 4 packages of beads, you’ll need about 90 inches of twine or leather.  If you’re using 3 packages of beads, you’ll need about 72 inches.

2.  Make a loop on one end of the twine or leather with a knot big enough to keep the beads from slipping off.  String the beads.  Once you’ve reached the length you want, add another loop at the end and knot.

That’s it! I hope you’ll give this little project a try!  If you do, please let me know how it goes!  Have a great day!
