Meditation Doesn’t Have to be Intimidating

Have you thought about giving meditation a try, but just don’t know where to begin?  I know how you feel.

Even though I’ve been intrigued with the idea of meditation for years, and tried it off and on, it wasn’t until recently that it became a regular part of my life.

Meditation doesn't have to be scary

Honestly, for a long time, I was a little bit unsure whether meditation conflicted with my Christian beliefs.  But I’ve since discovered that meditating every day is actually one of the best ways to strengthen my relationship with God.

I used to spend a lot of time talking to God.  Now I try to spend more time listening to Him.  That’s what meditation is all about.

Recently, I happened upon a beautiful place on the internet I want to share with you.  It’s called Headspace, where meditation is made friendly, simple, and approachable.

If you’re at all interested in meditation, but don’t know where to begin, Headspace is a great place to start, and it’s free!  (Btw, I’m not affiliated in any way)

Headspace gives you ten 10-minute guided meditations to get started with.  The meditations are fun and light and so easy to squeeze into your busy day.

There’s no special poses involved or need to sit on the floor–you can sit in your chair if you’d like. 

There’s no weird sitar music or mantras.  You’ll just hear the lovely British accent of your guide, Andy.  (Baxter even goes into a meditative state when he hears  Andy’s voice.)

For me, the gifts I get from meditating aren’t easy to put into words. The best explanation I can give is that meditation takes all of the jumbled thoughts in my head and gets rid of what doesn’t need to be there, leaving only the pure, true thoughts that help me live a happier, more purposeful life.
